Hill Fest 2018 Summary

Whether you were the 70+ year-old taking pictures at the event, the 5 year-old that wiped down tables, or somewhere in between that worked on the quilts, helped clean up in the kitchen, or took time to show your enthusiasm for all the entertainers, again, THANK YOU! We couldn’t have had such a fun day and benefited a great cause without all your help and support! Thank you to all those that played a major role in pulling all this together.  Your months of preparations in all categories (decorations, time-table of events, tents/chairs, music, games, food, setup, greeters, finding a benefactor, etc) was very thorough and resulted in the day going on without even a hiccup. Had 170 people signed in, but we’re guessing we had more than 225 people.  You all made 3 quilts and raised $1,200 for IHN !!!  Good call on having the water games with temps in the high 80’s!! We are planning a “lessons learned” meeting to review what went right and what can be improved upon. We welcome your input too, the office is always taking...

Pastor’s Letter Messenger Oct 2018 Part I – Lessons & Promises

Lessons for Life and Promises from the Gospel That’s the title I would assign to our 2018 Fall Stewardship emphasis.  Lessons and promises sound like more than traditional preaching, and in all actuality, it is. Preaching is about being filled with promised grace, lessons are part of a deeper learning to accompany these promises. This fall we have experienced a different form of preaching in worship, a format that calls upon us to engage more deeply with the promises of the gospel.  Yes, it has meant a slight change in our liturgy, but it’s meant to enhance engagement with the gospel promises through learning and responding.  I pray it is, or becomes, a meaningful reception of grace for you as we continue through the fall. Our Stewardship plan this fall has folded into five Sundays of lessons and promises. This combination is occurring through readings, singing, a video, preaching, meditation, sharing, and praying.  The Lessons and Promises topics for these 5 weeks are: Promise Legacy Ambition Capacity Essence Come ready to learn, to engage your hearts and minds, and to receive grace. In worship on November 3rd and 4th we invite you to celebrate this grace, perhaps with new meanings by looking ahead to 2019 with God’s promises deeply embedded in our hearts. See you in worship, Pastor...

Time and Talents Fair Nov 3&4

Our Stewardship committee is asking for your help to join us on Pledge Weekend (November 3&4) by being a part of a “Time and Talents Fair.” What we are envisioning is each group putting together a display and/or demonstration of what your group does and be available to answer questions both Saturday night and Sunday after worship and hopefully get interested members to sign up. We hope this will be something fun — use your imagination and creativity to get attention. As an added incentive, (and to make it a little more interesting) two anonymous donors have committed to awarding a first and second prize for the two best displays. This award is in the form of a contribution to a local charity in honor of your group. If your group is willing to participate, let me know by October 20th so we can plan a layout of tables or spaces for your displays. We hope as many of you as possible will be willing to participate. If you have questions you can contact me by return e-mail or give me (Judy Wasser) a call at 507-285-0953.Your Stewardship Committee,Jen Woodford, Joleen Mainz, Gene Harnack, Dave Jasperson, Judy Wasser, Pastor Charlie...
