• MILESTONE MINISTRY Thanks to Rita Howe, the Milestone Ministry program at Good Shepherd is off to a great start! Many of you have probably noticed the wonderful display of resources in the Narthex that relate to this ministry. This is an exciting area and we would like to expand the number of people who are involved in making this happen. The immediate need is for a few people to build “faith chests” to be presented at the time of a child’s baptism. Supplies and plans are provided and you would probably only need to make about 4 chests per year. Also needed are 3 or 4 people willing to serve as a “small group” for this ministry. You can call Rita Howe or Cynthia McLaren (289-1748) with any questions. As part of our Milestone Ministry program, all 3rd graders were presented with Bibles during a worship service in January. Following a month of lessons during Sunday School, on February 24, 2nd graders and 4th graders led the congregation in reciting the Apostle’s Creed and in praying the Lord’s Prayer during the 10:30 worship service. The 2nd graders were given prayer pillows and 4th graders received a copy of Luther’s Small Catechism. These are two more ways that our congregation acknowledges the milestones in a child’s faith journey.

  How does it work? You purchase gift cards for specific retailers, for example: Kwik Trip, Cub Foods, Target, or Best Buy. When you use these gift cards, the retailer returns a percentage to Good Shepherd Church.

  • Visit the SCRIP table at church and pick up a card for one of the popular Rochester retailers.
  • Order a card at the SCRIP table for a specific retailer.
  • Place your order online by 3:00 PM on Sunday, and your order will be ready for pick up at the church the following Sunday.

  • Search for a participating retailer, check what percentage they return.
