Hill Fest 2018 Summary

Whether you were the 70+ year-old taking pictures at the event, the 5 year-old that wiped down tables, or somewhere in between that worked on the quilts, helped clean up in the kitchen, or took time to show your enthusiasm for all the entertainers, again, THANK YOU! We couldn’t have had such a fun day and benefited a great cause without all your help and support! Thank you to all those that played a major role in pulling all this together.  Your months of preparations in all categories (decorations, time-table of events, tents/chairs, music, games, food, setup, greeters, finding a benefactor, etc) was very thorough and resulted in the day going on without even a hiccup. Had 170 people signed in, but we’re guessing we had more than 225 people.  You all made 3 quilts and raised $1,200 for IHN !!!  Good call on having the water games with temps in the high 80’s!! We are planning a “lessons learned” meeting to review what went right and what can be improved upon. We welcome your input too, the office is always taking...
“Share Our Love” Campaign

“Share Our Love” Campaign

Our Love Supports Our Ministries At our January 2017 annual meeting, we, as members of Good Shepherd, decided to join together in a Summer fundraising effort to support our mission and ministry. The first opportunity to participate will commence May 1, 2017, as the “Share Our Love” campaign begins. Church members will be presented opportunities to go above and beyond their current giving and demonstrate their love for God and Good Shepherd Church by contributing to this special campaign. During this celebration of love, a few Good Shepherd Church members will tell us what they love most about Good Shepherd and WHY they give generously to its ministry. Our goal to support our ministry through this effort is $45,000. Thank you for prayerfully considering why you give to Good Shepherd Church and the ways that you can share your love....

40 Days Fundraiser Update

40 Days Fundraiser Update

Wow! Our Good Shepherd family has faithfully responded to the call and we have raised nearly $35,000 of our $40,000 goal. Thank you! That means that there are still a few animals that have not made it on to the ark. Of course, this fundraiser isn’t really about animals on the ark; it is about our congregation having the financial tools necessary to carry out the mission that God has set forth for us. Whether it is children singing and learning God’s Word, community members using our building as a place of worship and gathering, or sitting quietly in a pew as the Spirit fills you with peace and joy, God has a plan for our congregation. Thank you to everyone who prayerfully considered how they can contribute to this effort. There is still time to participate, if you would like to contribute simply note 40 Days on your gift and it will be added to the total. It takes many resources – gifts of time, talent and treasure – for us to carry out God’s plan. What is God calling YOU to...
$40,000 in 40 Days Fundraiser

$40,000 in 40 Days Fundraiser

What is God calling US to do? When God told Noah to build an ark so that Noah and his family (and the animals!) could survive 40 days and nights of torrential rains, Noah didn’t question God. He just started building. As a congregation we need to think about what is God calling US as a congregation to do, and how we can get there. This fundraiser has a number attached–and it’s a big one: $40,000. This is the amount that we as a congregation committed to raising when we passed our 2016 budget at the annual meeting. But this fundraiser isn’t just about numbers, it’s is really about mission. It’s about allowing us as a congregation to be financially ready to do what God is calling us to do. Help Achieve Our Goal Together, we can be ready. With a little bit from everyone in the congregation we can get our ark built and be ready for whatever God calls us to do. If everyone gives something over the next 40 days we can meet our goal. Kids, can you share some of your allowance and dig into your piggy banks and give $.25 per day for the next 40 days? Grownups, can you brew your own coffee at home for the next 40 days and give that $5 per day to Good Shepherd’s mission instead? It will take everyone coming together for 40 days, examining what God is calling YOU to do, and participating in order for Good Shepherd Church to be ready for what God is calling us to do together. Schedule We will kick off our...

The Drive For 25

The Drive For 25

The Drive For 25 is our effort to raise money for the Good Shepherd Building and Utilities Fund. Utilities include things such as water, sewer, heat, electricity, garbage— you know, all the things we need to keep our building running and a comfortable place to do God’s work. The drive will kick off the weekend of May 2-3, with a goal to raise $25,000 by June 25, 2015. There is a Drive For 25 board in the Narthex, which has squares posted to the board that display suggested dollar amounts donations, like $50. Please consider taking a square and donating its value to support Good Shepherd. Of course, any donation amount will be accepted! The idea for the Building and Utilities Fund originally came from Paul Mainz. In memory of Paul, the weekend of June 6-7 has been designated “Orange Sock Days”. Please wear orange socks to church that weekend to celebrate Paul’s many contributions to Good Shepherd, as well as, his irreverent sense of...
