VBS 2016 – A Great Success!

VBS 2016 – A Great Success!

VBS Recap During the week of June 13-17, we had 34 children ages preschool to fifth grade participate in a week filled with worship, Bible study, games, crafts, and more! Four counselors came from Good Earth Village to lead our school-aged children from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while our preschoolers were led by congregational volunteers in a 9 a.m. –noon program. A highlight for many was a field trip to Good Earth Village on Thursday with a family potluck and worship service back at Good Shepherd in the evening. Thank You, Volunteers! We had many volunteers who donated their time as assistants, teachers, lunch and snack shoppers, lunch and snack organizers, and youth assistants. We also had people who provided food for lunches and breakfasts and gave monetary scholarship donations as well as a family who hosted the Good Earth Village counselors. We want to say a big thank you to everyone who made VBS week possible, especially: Shannon Buchholtz, Missy Brenhaug, Karen Carlson, Lisa Feenstra, Lonnie Fynskov, Bart and Wendy Hanson, Helen Hendrickson, Joann Holt-Angerman, Rita and Steve Howe, Molly Jepsen, Colin and Sara Lange, Amy Mohr, Glennis Pearson, Tristan Pearson, Sandy Schultz, Michelle Schlicht, Erin Sinwell, Kim Taylor, and Pastor Carl-Eric; and youth helpers, Rubie Garrison, Gracie Killian, Annika and Owen Schroeder, Amber and Amanda Torvund, and Greta Van Loon. Your help provided all involved a chance to grow in...

Family Retreat at Good Earth Village – February 13-14, 2016

A Retreat for Families This February Good Shepherd invites families with elementary age school children and younger to a retreat at Good Earth Village. The retreat theme is: “Courage in the Face of Big Questions”. Parents all know that kids can ask big faith questions, many of which we might ask ourselves. This retreat, led by Pastor Carl-Eric, will provide time for adults to work through this common experience in hope of finding, not the right answers, but courage to enter the conversation with the children in your life. Children will have time with Good Earth Village counselors in bible study on similar themes. And there will be plenty of fun and games for everyone. Details & Cost Space is limited to eight families and will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. The retreat will run from the morning of Saturday, February 13, to 12:00pm on Sunday, February, 14, 2016. There is a $25 per child fee to compensate counselors for their time (infants in parent’s care are free). All other expenses (food and lodging) are taken care of. Families wishing to come out to camp early can arrange an extra night beginning Friday. Email Pastor Carl-Eric to reserve your spot by January 21,...
