Lent 2017

Wednesday Evening Lenten Worship Series On Wednesday nights at 7:00pm, we will gather for worship at the close of the day. In this quiet reflective service we will invite members of the Rochester community who are immigrants to share their stories with us. In the silence of night, we will engage in holy listening in hopes of hearing God’s promise anew. We will use the Night Song liturgy written by Pastor Carl-Eric. The nursery will be staffed by high school students from 6:00-7:30pm, making child care available to families.   Lenten Soup Supper Sign-Up A special sign-up sheet for preparing and serving Lenten Simple Soup Suppers (soup, bread, and beverages) is to be found on the Welcome desk. Be creative and form a group to make soup together, serve, and clean up for one of our 5 Lenten Wednesday evenings (6:00-7:00pm). We normally serve 50-80 people. Our entire church family thanks you!   Weekly Lenten Adult Education Series: Immigrants, Refugees & the Displaced During the adult education hour on Sunday mornings at 9:30am, we will engage in learning more about the experiences of immigrants, refugees, and the displaced. Lenten Congregational Suppers

Lenten congregational suppers will be served from 5:45-6:45pm beginning Wednesday, February 28, and continuing every Wednesday in March. This a great opportunity to invite friends, co-workers, and neighbors to visit with us at Good Shepherd and see what our caring church community is all about. The Fellowship Committee asks all congregational members to participate at least once in these evening meals to continue building our church community in this time of sharing a meal together. Every member is encouraged to sign up to help with setup/cleanup or to provide food. The Fellowship Committee will provide 1-2 “kitchen crew leaders” to help direct volunteers. To help us organize the weekly meal selections and volunteers, you can sign up online here: Signup Genius. Check the option you want, scroll to the bottom and click “Sign Me Up”. You will be asked to provide your own password and then be sent a reminder e-mail 2 days before your event.
