The Start to Another Great Year of Education

School is soon resuming and so are the educational offerings at GSC! Over the past few years our dedicated and enthusiastic team has met, planned and orchestrated various learning opportunities for people of all ages who walk through our doors. Listed below are our team members, their roles, and what we have in store for the next month!

Sunday School Rally Day!

Teachers and students will meet in their classrooms immediately after the 9:30am service on Sunday, September 11, 2016. The classrooms will be labeled and are the same as last year. This will only take about 5 minutes and then the kids can join their families for the Rally Day brunch potluck. We are so excited about the upcoming year! See you there!

New Program for Families with children ages Birth-4!

Did you know parents have the largest influence on a child’s faith development? Knowing this, we think it is never too early to start sharing your faith with your family. Beginning Sunday, September 18, 2016, we will start a 6-week program called Frolic. Frolic gives families with infants and preschoolers a chance to do faith-filled activities together. Each week a different Bible story will be explored. Join us in the nursery at 9:30am on Sundays!

We also look forward to presenting our 3-year-olds and 3rd graders with Bibles during the 9:30am service on Sunday, September 11, 2016. Please contact Tracy Tollefson if your child will or will not be able to receive his/her Bible on Rally Sunday.

Blessing of the Backpacks and Rolling Chapels

Let’s send our children off to a new school year with our prayers and blessings on Sunday, September 18, 2016. We invite all Good Shepherd children to bring their backpacks to church for a special blessing. What’s a “rolling chapel”? Find out in the GSC parking lot after the service!

Grand Opening of Remodeled Library!

The newly remodeled library will be open for business on Sunday, September 11, 2016. Take a moment to browse the new titles of books and DVDs, or just relax in the new space! See a book or DVD you like? Check it out and take it home. Have questions? Librarians will be available to answer questions and help check out materials. Prefer to browse the collection electronically? Search the libraries contents via There are books and movies for everyone to enjoy!

Thank You!

Please feel free to contact any of us with your thoughts, ideas or questions. It goes without saying that the programs have only been successful because many of you have said “yes” when asked to help, even though it may have been easier to say “no”. Thank you! We look forward to another year of worshipping, learning and growing together in our faith!

Peace be with you,

~Lonnie Fynskov, Church Council Liaison and Education Committee Team Lead
