Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Good news! The time has come for our congregation to consider the opportunity to call our next lead pastor. Our dedicated and talented Call Committee has spent a great deal of time and energy preparing our Ministry Site Profile, reviewing candidate materials, and meeting with candidates. After many months of consideration, the Call Committee has nominated a candidate for consideration by the congregation. On November 5, 2016, the Good Shepherd Church Council met and voted to call a congregational meeting to consider the nomination. The congregational meeting will be at 9:30am on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
At the November 20, 2016, meeting, the Call Committee will present information regarding the candidate and all confirmed members will have the chance to vote by written ballot. Until the congregational meeting, the candidate’s identity will remain confidential.
Some items of interest regarding the congregational meeting are:
- A quorum of confirmed members must be present for the meeting. However, the Call Committee and the Church Council encourage all voting members to attend the meeting. The Call Committee will not be able to share information about the candidate prior to the meeting.
- Absentee voting and voting by proxy are not allowed.
- In order to call the candidate, at least two-thirds of those present must vote in favor of the call. However, most pastoral candidates are not comfortable accepting a call unless a much greater percentage of votes favor the call.
God bless, and we will see you on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at 9:30am.
Church Council President
