Two Concerts Featuring David Kassler’s Settings of Poems by Regionally and Nationally Recognized Poets

A concert series of choral music composed by David Kassler will take place in Rochester, Minnesota, on Friday, March 24, and Sunday, March, 26, 2017.

The concerts will feature a 30-member chamber choir of collegiate and professional musicians conducted by David Kassler with David Shaffer-Gottschalk, piano and Stephen Pelkey, cello. Seven choral works written for chamber choir, piano and cello will be featured. The choral works are choral settings by David Kassler of poems by Jana A. Bouma, Meredith Cook, Robert Hedin, Audrey Kletscher Helbling, John Reinhard, Michael Waters, and the late Janelle Hawkridge.

These concerts are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
