GSC Covid-19 Team Update 3.26.20

March 26, 2020 Dear members and friends of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Today marks day 14 of our church’s suspension of activities.  We are all aware of many changes and sacrifices being made around the world and in our own community.  Yesterday Governor Tim Walz issued an executive order for all Minnesotans to “Stay at Home”.    We share this short excerpt: “I (Tim Walz) am asking Minnesotans to make the most profound sacrifices yet in the struggle against the coronavirus pandemic: Stay at home for two weeks, starting Friday night.  And unless your business is deemed “critical,” close the doors, send your workers home, idle your machinery. The practical effect is basic: Keep people away from each other and common spaces, depriving the virus of its ability to infect people.” Although this executive order allows movement for essential “critical” services, churches are not specifically mentioned, leaving this decision up to us.   To respect and honor this public health order, we believe it is best for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church to ask our pastors remain at home as they continue to lead worship through live-streaming.  We wish to honor Gov. Walz’s “stay at home” order.   This may limit some aspects of our newest on-line worship services because our pastors won’t have access to the many resources our beautiful sanctuary offers.  We ask you to remain on this new journey with us, to continue to worship in these new ways as we ask our church leaders to model being compliant citizens.  Our pastors are also restricted from home and hospital visits, therefore please contact them through the church office phone if you wish...

GSC Covid Team Update 3.21.20

Dear members and friends of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, After the first seven (7) days (March 20) of our suspended church and building activities we felt it was time to offer our update.  “We” now includes the newly formed COVID 19 GSC Team assembled to address on-going public health matters on behalf of GSC.  Thank you to Dr. Jenna Anderson, Jim Allen RN, Joann Angerman L.S.W., Dr. Dudley Davis, Dr. Mike Mesick, Jen Woodford, Dr. Lori Bates and Ben Mohr L.I.C.S.W, M.S.W for their willingness to share their wisdom and insights. We continue to monitor the most current information provided by the CDC and Minn. Dept of Health for recommendations on social movement, gatherings, and containment. Good Shepherd is following those recommendations by discontinuing all in-office operations in addition to church and building activities. Your staff is working remotely from their homes and continue our ministry in a variety of new ways. Worship is being offered via live-stream on Sunday mornings; Wednesday evening worship and pastoral daily devotions are recorded and available on our goodshepherdchurch.net website and Good Shepherd Church Facebook page. Pastors Charlie and Carl-Eric will be joined by our organist, Jenna, and music director, David, in our sanctuary on Sunday morning to conduct our live-stream worship service. They will strictly observe hand washing and surface sanitizing while maintaining safe distances. Church committees are meeting effectively through remote means and their reports are being forwarded to your Leadership Council.  Our Leadership Council will meet at their regular time on Tuesday, March 24thusing a video meeting app.  Our U.S. mail is being picked up daily and all offerings are being counted...
